Yauco Selecto AA | Rare Puerto Rican Coffee
A coffee most people never get to try. Small lots, and then it's gone.
Yauco Selecto AA comes off the mountainsides of Yauco, Puerto Rico, and rarely leaves the island. It is one of the most sought-after coffees in the Caribbean, and it reaches the mainland in quantities small enough that most roasters never see a bag of it at all.
The cup is full-bodied and buttery, with a chocolate aroma that hits before the first sip and a sweetness that stays clean through the finish. Rich without being heavy. Smooth without being flat. It drinks like a treat and still works as your regular morning cup.
If you have never heard of Yauco Selecto, that is the point. Puerto Rico grows in small volume, on steep terrain, at a labor cost most commodity buyers walk away from. The coffee mostly stays on the island because the island drinks it. Getting it here at all takes a relationship, not a purchase order.
I get this in very small lots. Not limited-edition marketing small — actually small, a handful of bags at a time, and when they are gone I have no way to get more until the next harvest allocation. There is no countdown timer on this page because there does not need to be. When the bags are gone, the listing goes dark.
Every bag is small-batch air-roasted, packed fresh, and marked with a roast date. That matters more on a coffee like this, not less. Buttery body and delicate sweetness are the first things to fade in a bag that sat in a warehouse for three months. Yours gets roasted to order.
This is the coffee I get most excited to roast, and the one I run out of fastest.
Tastes Like
- Milk chocolate
- Butter and cream
- Toasted nut sweetness
- Full, round body
- Clean, sweet finish
Best Brewing Styles
Great for drip coffee makers, French press, pour-over, and espresso.
For the fullest expression of that buttery body, use French press. For an easy daily cup that shows off the chocolate, brew it as drip. For more clarity and a cleaner sweetness, use pour-over. As espresso, it pulls thick and sweet with very little bite.
Why You'll Love It
You get a genuinely rare coffee roasted the week you drink it, not a rare label on old beans.
- No mass-market beans dressed up as exclusive.
- No warehouse coffee sold at a rare-lot price.
- No burnt roast hiding what the coffee actually tastes like.
- No fake scarcity — when I say small lots, I mean I count them.
Just a hard-to-find Puerto Rican coffee, roasted to order, for anyone who wants something in their kitchen that nobody else on their block has.
